The “Africa Calling” issue (Vol. XXXV, No. 1) is a terrifically useful resource, providing insight and analysis on issues related to reproductive choice in Africa. Leo Igwe’s piece “The Untold Story of Africa’s Secular Tradition,” Chantal Umuhoza’s “Rwanda: Where Abortion Can Lead to Prison” and Codou Bop’s “Religion, Custom and Colonialism” provide readers with a multifaceted view of the culture and practices influencing abortion access in different African contexts. The “Understanding Abortion Access in Africa” piece is a really useful synopsis without masking important variations across the continent. Thank you for this thoughtful coverage.
